Satin catches a narrow ribbon of light. Cotton holds a quieter shape. Lace creates detail that can compete with a busy room. Choose the behavior of the fabric before choosing the colour.
Test sitting, reaching and walking before the shoot. An outfit that looks right only while standing still will make every transition feel like maintenance.

If the wardrobe carries texture, simplify the background. If the room has strong lines, use a cleaner silhouette. Restraint gives the eye somewhere to land.
